Fact Checkin’ Crime Stats
Hank Sims over at the North Coast Journal wrote a good analysis challenging the claims by Humboldt County District Attorney Paul Gallegos that the violent crime rate here in Humboldt has declined since he has taken office and that he had some personal role its decline following new developments. Sims first challenged the claim after NCJ-sponsored radio forum back in May, calling Gallegos’ assertion “minor campaign flummery” but nothing to call shenanigans over. With the recent release of crime stats for 2009, followed by Gallegos’ response in the T-S to said numbers, such assertions appear more disingenuous.
